Construction Begins on Omeo Mountain Bike Park
Construction began last week on Omeo’s mountain bike park, with an initial, short section of trail expected to be open for riders in the first half of 2023.
When complete, the Omeo mountain bike park will consist of 121 kms of trail, winding around the hills above Livingstone Park, the trail system’s hub.
The trails are being designed and constructed by WA-based trail builder Common Ground, well known already to Omeo locals as the builder of the much-loved pump track in Livingstone Park.
It is not expected there will be any interruption to public access to Livingstone Park during construction, however some walking trails will be closed.
The Omeo mountain bike park has attracted $9.75 million of local, state and federal investment, and, when complete, will provide a year-round outdoor adventure attraction for the area.
Stage 1, expected to take at least a year, will include 55 kilometres of cross country and gravity trails of varying difficulty for beginners to dedicated mountain bike enthusiasts.
The trails will meet Mountain Bike Australia criteria for national events.
